Joe Lee & Dick Wilson's 1965 design winds along Limestone Creek through rolling Manlius terrain. Five par 3s and four par 5s — two reachable — frame a position-and-wedge test. Birdies live on the par 5s; the card is protected on three long par 3s.
— The Overall Game · Last 10–20 Rounds

You bomb it ~301, but the quality is shape-dependent. On left-to-right doglegs your driver is elite (122); on dead-straight holes it drops to 84, where your fairway wood (103) is the better start. Cavalry fits your eye — nearly every driving hole is a dogleg. Match the club to the shape and the miss-right (14%) stays out of trouble.
→ Driver on the doglegs; 3-wood when it's dead straight.

Downhill
65
Putting is your one soft category (89). Inside 8 ft you're elite on straight, uphill putts (117) — but weak on breakers (~70) and downhill (65), and your speed runs aggressive. The fix isn't the stroke; it's the leave. Your elite approach can place every wedge below the hole for the straight, uphill look you bury.
→ Leave it below the hole — straight, uphill putts.

Your other soft spot — 47% sand saves. Cavalry's bunkering is classic Joe Lee, framing tee zones and greens. This rep is mostly avoidance: the plan keeps your tee ball clear of the fairway traps and your approaches on the safe side of greenside sand, so the 47% rarely gets tested.
→ Plan around the sand; when you're in it, just find the green.
— The Driving Plan · How We Built It

The shape of the hole picks the club.

Your driver quality swings with the dogleg — elite when it turns left-to-right, soft when it's dead straight. We pick the club that fits the shape and leaves a full wedge, never just the one with the most yards.
Driving Distance
301
yds
Your D1 Top-25 driving number. Turned loose on the doglegs that fit your eye (104–122 quality).
Selected Leave
130

A full pitching wedge — your green-in-regulation distance. Every tee shot aims to leave it.
Protect Your Ball · Play Responsibly
01
Lay back, hit fairway — 100%. If a lay-back club can't find the short grass every time, it's the wrong club.
02
Carry by 15, or lay back by 15. Every hazard is cleared with margin or taken fully out of play.
03
Wedges always hit the green. We set up leaves so the wedge is never in doubt.
04
Take the stress-free path. Play the club you know finds the short grass — never the one that might. The responsible shot is the calm one.
Your Distance Ladder
total · yards
Driver shot-quality by shape: L–R 122 · R–L 104 · Straight 84. On the rare dead-straight hole your fairway wood (103) out-qualifies the driver — step down the ladder there, let it eat everywhere else.

Tee miss-right
22% → water dry
The #1 handicap, with water down the right of the green — right where your miss lives (14% of fairways, 22% from the rough). Aim the tee left-center, then play the wedge to below and left of the pin. Your elite approach (+1.96) can place it on command: the water never comes in, and you're left an uphill putt instead of a downhill one.
→ Tee left-center; wedge below the pin, never at the right flag.

P5
The par-5 green light. H4 & H6 are reachable — go in two; your approach (+1.96) makes the miss cheap. H14 & H17: go when wind and lie agree, else lay to a wedge — your 83% band either way.
PUTT
Leave it below the hole. Your short putts are elite straight & uphill (117) but soft on breakers and downhill (65). Every wedge leave targets below the pin — turning your best club into the putting fix.
— The Blueprint · NYS Junior Amateur

The plan plays to 70.8.
You average 72.1.

That's 1.3 shots — and none of it is new skill. It's leaving wedges below the hole, clubbing to the hole's shape off the tee, and respecting three long par 3s. Play the plan and the number comes down.
01
Club to the hole's shape.
Driver on the doglegs (104–122 quality), 3-wood on the rare dead-straight hole (1). Cavalry fits your eye — let it go where it turns, step down where it doesn't, and the right miss stays clean.
02
Own the wedge leave.
Your approach is the weapon (+1.96, GLQ 100). Most holes leave a wedge inside 120 — your 83% band. Place every one below the hole.
03
Respect the long par 3s.
3, 8 and 13 are 181–196 yards — past your comfort band. Center of the green, two putts, walk. No short-siding to a downhill putt.
04
Stay in the process.
Take the stress-free path every time. If a shot leaks off-plan, the recovery gets you back to plan — never a second heroic. A bogey from taking your medicine beats a double from the dice roll. Let the field ride the roller coaster.
